Foster+Partners have been appointed to design a new, office- led scheme that will also include the reprovision of 32 residential apartments in a new residential mansion block in addition to better appointed retail units at ground level.
In the Summer of 2019, we undertook public exhibitions at the Porchester Hall to show the initial proposals, which were attended by hundreds of local residents.
Prior to submitting the final plans to Westminster City Council, we would like to take the opportunity to show them to the community, identifying the changes that were made following the previous consultation and reminding you of what is being proposed.
The online consultation material that you will read today shows that we will be:
• Provide high-quality and sustainable office building;
• Re-providing the existing homes and a new, sustainable and accessible building;
• Create a significantly improved ground floor retail units along Queensway and Porchester Gardens;
• Combined with the Whiteleys development, this proposal provides significant enhancements to the public realm along Queensway.

The proposals will greatly enhance the site and the wider Queensway area, providing modern office, residential and retail accommodation. The design takes cues from the Whiteleys historic facade, with the heights of the new buildings sitting comfortably within the various brick and stone clad mansion blocks along Queensway. For the first time in history, the new proposals unifies the two sides of the street in terms of column rythm and improvement to shopfronts.
